Large, unexpected TikTok Mobile Data Transfer?

    I opened TikTok for the first time in a while. Agreed to some file access for the app. I posted a video about the appointment of the senior ex-Facebook employee to the role of Irish Data Protection Commissioner on TikTok. a few minutes later i'm hit by a mobile data transfer warning.

    TikTok had eaten up over 2.77 GB of mobile transfer data in a few minutes. For context, the month previous month i'd used 3.86GB total mobile data over 30 days.

    I'm a data privacy campaigner / enthusiast. am i being paranoid? 2.77GB in a few minutes? my entire phone is around 38GB including apps, OS, files etc. I didn't even surf TikTok. i only uploaded a video.

    This has to be unusual?
