How to shut out spam from a WordPress site.

I had a Wordpress blog linked from my website.

I had the comments setting set to "approval required", so those commenting had to get past me first.

However, this didn't stop a deluge of "for approval" spam. So much so that I hid the site from view on my website.

But, this hasn't stopped the spam. Even tho' my blog is hidden from public view, they still spam it.

How can I un-publish or completely hide my blog site so that I no longer receive spam?

    Thanks.

    D.

You can try using security plugins like Akismet or WP-SpamShield to block spam comments completely. Another way is to temporarily unpublish the blog or set it to private so only you can access it. Sometimes, moving the blog to a staging site helps stop spam entirely. If your website is for real estate, working with a real estate web design company can help set up your WordPress site properly with strong spam protection and better comment management. This way, you can keep your content safe without losing access to your posts.

To shut out spam from a WordPress site, you should start by enabling built-in tools like comment moderation and using reliable plugins such as Akismet or Wordfence to block spam bots. Setting up CAPTCHA on forms, disabling trackbacks and pingbacks, and limiting login attempts also helps reduce unwanted activity. Regular updates to WordPress, themes, and plugins keep security patches active and close loopholes that spammers often exploit. If you’re not sure how to configure everything correctly, working with a professional website designer Dubai can be a smart move, since they can secure your site, improve performance, and ensure your business runs smoothly online.
