    Hi All,

I am looking to do an upgrade on my Dell T3600 to make it suitable for video editing.

Any advice on which GPU would fit this model?

    Specs are:

    Processor - Intel Xeon E5-1620 3.6GHz

    RAM - 32GB

    Graphics - NVIDIA Quadro 2000 (979 MB)

Storage - 238 GB SSD ATA LITEONIT LCS-256

    Budget is kinda limited!

    Thanks in advance.

Need to know what power supply you have. Your GPU is powered straight from the PCIe so you want to know what you can actually do for this upgrade. Dell doesn't detail PSUs by model and only offers a range from 425W to 635W. Yours is classed at "Mid-range 3d" at that time so we cannot tell from here. That detail we need to know. I'm also 99% sure that the PSU has two 6 PIN connectors which you need to be aware of. GPUs used to use 6 PIN but it's gone to 8 PIN now. You can get adaptors so be aware. Just confirm that those connections are there first.

Dell have a habit of pulling all kinds of tricks to make upgrading a hassle so you need to know exactly what you can do.

Also, can you give some more details on the use case. This machine is really getting on. I'm not entirely convinced throwing money at it is a great idea either.

    I'm with Coyler on this.

    E5-1620 is a 13yo 4core/8thread CPU with a 130W TDP
I'd get a used Intel build with Quick Sync rather than throwing more money at that fossil.

Even something like this 6yo SFF workstation would run rings around your machine & use less power.

time for a new pc. You could probably pick up a 5800 pc with a 3060 for like 450 now
