Can someone recommend a steamer or other method?

I have mould on the ceiling ,caused obviously by damp.

It is a recurring problem

and I generally apply bleach and elbow grease before painting over.I am thinking that a steamer might be the tool for this .

is this a good idea and what might be a good steamer to buy?

Would it work for a mouldy ceiling?

Would I just have to clean up behind it or would it kill the mould and remove the grime so that I could paint straight away after?

It will allow you to lessen the stain off the mold and should kill it, but as you know mold is present in in much of the air that we breathe, so it will return as long as the surface is a lower temperature than the dew point.

Will I be able to paint (emulsion) directly after steaming or will I have to wipe off the debris to prevent smears in the paint?

Otherwise it is fairly simple (and my normal practice) to apply a weak dilution of bleach since that has to be followed by a rinse to remove the black marks even though the mould itself is killed(by the bleach)

Debris? No, it will just need to dry off after a quick wipe.
