ESB reconnection and service alteration

Hi, we're midway through our renovation and about two weeks from completing second fix electrical. I've been in touch with Electric Ireland and ESB about reconnection (including a service alteration to bring the cable from the pole underground to the new metre). I was informed that it's currently taking 10-12 weeks to process orders in the Tuam office which seems insane. Has anyone has any luck with getting this done more quickly or gone the route of getting a generator or power from a neighbour. Without electricity we can't dry the house out so everything will be on hold - tiling/plumbing/kitchen/flooring. Any advice is welcome as we're getting quite concerned about the delay. Thanks!
