Getting a lot of traction on the, or at least my, socials at the minute. Seems like an alternate-Zwift-no-brainer for zero dollars. Personally I've no interest in Zwift racing, or Zwift speed-dating or whatever "social" aspect of it they're trying to cultivate, and I've no interest either in another Goddamn monthly subscription.

Half thinking of getting a smart trainer though and maybe trying Mywhoosh out. Are there users on here and what do you think of it. Is there any point in all the graphics and virtual worlds if all you're doing is a structured interval training programme? I've gotten by grand so far on a dumb turbo or rollers and netflix.

I've been using MyWhoosh since earlier this year, but not with any great intensity. Its much closer to being Zwift than something like Rouvy. User numbers are still relatively low so if you are interested in group rides / races (including races masquerading as "group training rides") Zwift will have far higher numbers - a MyWhoosh equivalent might have 5-10 riders. This is a double edged sword - nice to be able to hide in a big group but I think Zwift spins are more likely to end up as as an unplanned "qualifying lap" if you are not sufficiently disciplined. Structured interval training looks fairly similar across both platforms but there may be differences in the effectiveness of trainer control by the app.

Biggest technical issue on MyWhoosh for me is that when they do software upgrades, the downloads are very large - several GB. You may not have any warning that an update is required until you crank up the app, and you have no option to do the update later, or use the app while the update is happening in background so you are locked out for quite some time - if you are booked into a scheduled event, you will miss it.

If you are just looking to support structured interval training, MyWhoosh will be much more cost effective but as always, if a product is free then "you" are the product.

My Whoosh has a very busy UI imho,

whats supposed to Belgium looks like abu dhabi

i was an early convert to RGT/Indievelo and now TP Virtual guy(got a 1 year premium sub moving from IV) - out of sub end of year and most probably will continue.

Other simpler cheaper options I like are training peaks are trainerDAY.com(app) and intervals.icu (calendar and analysis)

    honorable mentions

    biketerra.com

    ictrainer.com

Mywoosh wouldn't control my turbo. I was only really on zwift during covid, and then dropped it, but back on since trying out the TrainerRoad integration. Getting enough from it to carry on, for now at least.

Used MyWhoosh for a good few month at start of the year, the update thing is a pain alright, especially when tight on time, but its been great for me. I only ever do structured workouts that ive created myself mostly and perfect for that

I’ve tried zwift on and off over the years but ultimately find it overwhelmingly pointless as like you I usually follow my own workouts anyway and would prefer to be looking at something visually stimulating on YouTube over an avatar cycling around a virtual world. Erg mode on a smart trainer is handy though as it takes the thinking out of hitting certain power, but maybe there’s something to be said for the need to concentrate too. The only reason I’ve come back to zwift is because the club I rode with ran a Wednesday night club session and we all dialled into a discord server. That all said, I’ve ditched my smart trainer and have been on the rollers occasionally over the past year. I previously had an elite direct drive dumb trainer and wish I’d never sold it
