Touch-pad no longer working on Ubuntu

My laptop was working fine last night. This morning I woke up and I discovered the touch-pad had malfunctioned. I reinstalled the operating system but it remains the same.The scroll works fine on the touch-pad but the right and left clicking does not work. I opened it up this morning but everything seems where it should be.

I'm out of ideas. Does anybody know what to do?

Plug in a usb mouse and see if you can update the driver for the touchpad if available?

I updated the BIOS to the most recent and the touch pad stopped working all together. I have a mouse but I don't see any updates for the touchpad.

I reinstalled the OS again after I updated the BIOS this morning. The clock was off because I hadn't location switched on. I have searched the laptop for CMOS battery but there is none.

I entered this command this morning and got this:

I took it into a community repair shop this morning and the worker opened the laptop and re-seated the touch-pad. It works now which is great. Thanks for your help.
