My passport expired on the 27th of August.

Do I have to apply as a first time applicant or can I use the renewal option?

Any help is massively appreciated. Haven't booked flights but I'm due to go to visit my family in Europe on the 10th of October. Financial situation meant I'm last minute with this

    it’s just a renewal.

Thanks for getting back to me. Appreciate it.

I get paid on Wednesday and wanted to do it then. But then it said "if it has expired more than 15 years ago. It has to be a first time application" when I checked the process today.

Got me worried. Particularly about turnaround times

    Never mind...

I panicked. I'm sorry for wasting your time and embarrassing myself.

The last time I got a new Irish passport I did it through the post office (Northern ) Ireland-

They checked all the details then sent it away themselves- I got a new passport in the post two weeks later-

48 hours for my renewal to arrive, when doing it online.

Really do make sure you have everything done properly though because we submitted a renewal with a missing signature and it fell into a exceptions queue I think. Despite resending the corrected document within 24 hours of the error being pointed out to us, we didn't get the renewed passport until 5 or 6 weeks later and this was at a time when boardsies said they were receiving standard renewals within 48 hours.

    27th August isn't even a month ago.
