As above anyone come across this before. Doing a sub on a sg and the guards are trying do decrease my ammo allowance. Original gun was only licensed 6 months ago and they are now saying my thousand rounds are now outside the guidelines.

Kind of felt like he was saying agree to it or tough luck ?

according to the Commissioners guidelines if your part of a gun club you can 750-1000 rds of ammunition which you can quote to them and if they want to decrease your ammo allowance ask them for a reason in writing why as your perfectly entitled to.

My local Super reduced everyone's allowance by 50%. Everyone I know who challenged it had it overturned and got the amount back. It's happening in a few places. They're just going back to their old ways of seeing how far they can push sports shooters and how much they can get away with .

has anyone every got a good valid reason of why the super reduced the ammo from the guild line amount ?

Because i just don’t get it , if you meet all the requirements to own a firearm and ammo where dose the decision come in to play to say right you meet all the requirements but your only allowed 50 rounds . Well why if the guide lines state i can have 1000 …and I meet the requirements.

Deal with this by letter or by email, in order to have documented proof. Like all other parts of the Firearrms Act, the PTB need to account for the reasoning behind their decisions. This is all part of their agenda, (death by a thousand cuts), to make it as hard as possible for firearms holders.

Any unwarranted cuts to allowances must be supported, in law, and can be appealed to the District Court Appeals (Civil) where costs can and are being allowed. To register an appeal costs €25 (don't need solicitor to do this) and shows them you are serious.

Stand-up for ourselves or give up your firearms

If you can do the job, do it. If you can't do the job, just teach it. If you really suck at it, just become a union executive or politician.

Slight correction there, not a gun club, a "Target Shooter (member of authorised club)" is up to 1000.
Gun clubs are local game clubs, so that would be "Shotgun for clay pigeon, pheasant/pigeon/woodcock – up to 750 rounds."

But do note the last line of the preceeding paragraph - "The following ratio of ammunition to purpose may be considered average:"

Keyword there bolded, so it could be more or less, but "average" is important.

But do also beware that the guidelines are concrete when they are against you, but only guidelines when they are in your favour 😂

Never forget, the end goal is zero firearms of any type.

S.I. No. 187/1972 - Firearms (Temporary Custody) Order - Firearms seized

S.I. No. 21/2008 - Firearms (Restricted Firearms and Ammunition) Order 2008 - Firearm types restricted

Criminal Justice (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 2009 - Firearms banned & grandfathered

S.I. No. 420/2019 - Magazine ban, ammo storage & transport restricted

Criminal Justice (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 2023 - 2023 Firearm Ban (retroactive to 8 years prior)
