Just finishing off a self build garden room and went with screw piles for the foundation. Very impressed with the end product which got me thinking, is it possible to use screw piles as a foundation for a timber frame extension?

We did precisely that 2 years ago. Timber beams on the top of the screw piles and extension built up on top of that.
Cross laminated timber rather than traditional timber frame, attached with L brackets and bolts - but no reason why you wouldn't do the same for a traditional timer build.

Thank you very much. Very helpful. And no issues with compliance letter on the back end? That looks like a two storey extension as well

It's a single storey extesnion with a monopitch roof so the roof is nearly 2 stories high at the top end.

No issues with compliance - the engineer did all the calculations (he had never used these before) and it is probably quite over-engineered. You have to get the company out to do a "pull test" to check you ground is suitable.
