[Resolved] Appealing Three Month Ban

I am appealing the three month ban handed out by Necro for the following post:

This particular mod had been targeting me a fair bit over the past while. Just a couple of weeks ago they handed out a one-month ban when falsely accusing me of discussing an ongoing court case - I had to give them 'proof' the court case was concluded in order to get the ban lifted. This was despite several other posters in the thread referencing and linking the same court case prior. The downright rudeness from Necro when I pointed that out in the PM exchange afterwards was disappointing.

If Boards.ie wants to stay functioning and expect people to pay for it, then the bias in moderating needs to stop, otherwise this site is going to die. I had given serious consideration to subscribing, however the exchanges with this mod leaves me with no doubt that it would be a waste of money because it's really all grinding down to a constant to-and-fro with biased mods nowadays.

Yes, a pointless exercise however as they don't listen to any reasoning and just respond with snark and rudeness.

Their last response was "If you wish to dispute the warning and resultant ban you are free to use the Dispute Resolution Forum."

So, that's why I'm here - not by choice I can assure you!

Hi,

I think you should make a more sincere attempt at resolving this with the mod. I've spoken with them and they are open to this.

What you've done here is allude to other posters and make a crack about subscriptions. None of this is constructive.

I outlined in my original post on here that this mod has been targeting me - so there's prejudice already established. I'd much prefer someone impartial review this if possible.

In that case, I am upholding this. You've been repeatedly warned and banned for having a pop at other posters and yet you continue to do so, hence the ban. When you PM'd the mod, you made no attempt to defend yourself. Instead, you went straight to blaming everyone else and made pot shots about subscriber numbers.

I suggest you reconsider your posting style or your next ban may be permanent.

Let me know if you want to escalate to an admin review.

As I clearly stated above there has been history where Necro has targeted me. When I successfully showed them that the court case mentioned (not even discussed) was indeed settled, their ban dished out to me was removed, however the record of a 1-month ban was not cleared from my account. This time there is a three month ban which indicates I served a one-month ban - I haven't.

You have contributed yourself to the thread on immigration and are on the opposing side of the debate to me, so it's little surprise to see you uphold this ban. As regards comments about subscriber numbers - it's called feedback. There is clear bias from some moderators who oversee this site with petty and at times incorrect bans handed out, hence why visitor numbers are falling away. Most visitors come to view a debate, others to participate - there is enough groupthink on Bluesky and X without making this place another also-ran. If there is not a change in policy on how moderation is implemented, this site won't see next Summer given the trajectory.

As for 'posting style' - WOW! Tell me what to say, without telling me what to say, and throw a threat to permanently ban me to boot!!! It's that kind of petty smugness that's killing this site, totally oblivious to the consequences into the bargain.

Again, I ask an admin to review this. It's been well over a week and no movement whatsoever.

From looking at the notes on your profile you didn't get a one month ban for the warning about discussing matters before the courts, you got it for the other post you were warned for over a month before that.

You haven't offered any reason why your current warning should be lifted, rather all you have done is try and shift the blame to the moderator.

So this is being upheld.
