All the usual elements, the bonus for this contest will be maximum wind gust (knots) at any location on met.ie daily weather … as the outlook seems unsettled, I changed my mind about going with last year's number of sunny days question as the answer might be depressingly low (or perhaps not but anyway, your call).

Deadline as always 0300h 1st, with late penalties of 1 point per four hour late increments to 36h (1500h 2nd) followed by larger penalties that I seldom if ever need to apply because few people seem to be later than 2-3 point intervals anyway.

I am keeping an eye on developments with the future of boards.ie and this forum, figuring that Boards will likely survive (I hope so) but if not the weather forum is even more likely to survive in some form, so the contest would go there, wherever that turns out to be ... In the event of a sudden disruption check in with me over at Irish Weather Online (facebook) where I would set up an info thread, that's probably not where the weather forum will be going in general terms but it is where you can get in touch with me if you wish, at any point later this year.

Yes, although the last one was an actual short-range forecast question which is why I may have overlooked the similarity, last year we had a question about sunny days which I was going to repeat, but the outlook looked so dire that I thought everyone might predict zero or very low anyway.

Consensus appears to be rather warm, wet and cloudy (people may be thinking it will improve after a very wet and cloudy start?) and also quite windy at some point … chances of an air frost according to our group would be a toss-up.

Still time to enter and I would revise this con sensus if any further entries appear.

There are many variations of the sunny day theme, such as number of days above X or below Y degrees, days with rainfall above Xmm, days with gusts above X, or no gusty days, etc which require some level of skill and an even higher level of luck.
