Topping and spreading fertiliser

Quick question, ive a couple of fields badly infested with thistles. I had planned on topping before spreading autumn fertiliser but now my topper is out of action and it could be a week before I have it back. Could I spread my fertiliser and then top next week before any great response is seen from the fertiliser or would…

Quick question, ive a couple of fields badly infested with thistles. I had planned on topping before spreading autumn fertiliser but now my topper is out of action and it could be a week before I have it back. Could I spread my fertiliser and then top next week before any great response is seen from the fertiliser or would I be better to top and then wait for fertiliser application?
