Harmon Kardon AVR3000 replacement

Hi,

My AVR3000 packed up and I need a replacement. I have a 5.1 BOSE acoustimass surround system in a smallish living room. I use it to listen to music/Netflix/TV/Youtube. The Panasonic TV is oldish and was feeding to the AMP via optical but I think it also has HDMI ARC on one of the HDMI ports.

What would you recommend as a new AMP.

Sorry to hear you amp has given up the ghost.

If it is just a straight up 5.1 reciever you are lookign for you could check out the Denon AVRS670 coming in at €448

If you want to go into Atmos 5.1.2 then there is the Onkyo 3100 priced at €499. (FOr Atmos you would need to add in an extra two speakers)

Either of these would be a nice addition to your setup.
They can connet via either Optical or HDMI ARC.

Is there much of a difference in the AVRS670 and the AVR-S760H. Do you think the 760 is worth the extra money

Thanks for the post. the main difference is the 760 has Dolby Atmos capability. This mean you can add a set of additional front upward firing speakers, or a set of ceiling speakers. This will add extra height to the soundstage. Naturally you could add these speakers at a later date if you wished

Thanks for getting back to us Griffinx,

The voice control is handy for changing volume and things but it depends how much you use it - nothing beats a remote in my opinion!
