Max tax-free lump sum from AVC PRSA for public sector retiree

    (posted this in pension forum… but maybe this taxation forum is better?🤔)

    My wife is about to retire.

    She's entitled to a modest enough pension straight away from her public sector employer.
    She's had 12 years of pensionable role with this PS employer, and 9 in non-pensionable roles. So 21 in total.

    She'll also receive a tax-free lump sum, something like €30K, from her employer.

    She's also been funding an AVC PRSA with Zurich - currently worth ~€50K.

    Can she withdraw any of that AVC PRSA as a tax-free lump sum?
    Does that have to be done at the same time she retires from the PS job? Or can she wait a few years?
