Interesting Radio Stations On Shortwave

Has anyone listened to shortwave radio recently? Most bands it is just a few international boring stations such as China Radio International. However on 49M there are several interesting stations that play music and some are not available to listen online to. Radio Europa one of these. It plays a very good variety of music as well. I have also had some Dutch pirates which are broadcast at around 6300khz there. One on 5800khz as well. It certainly is a part of shortwave that is worth going though and looking at. Not to mental the national Dutch commercial station as well which is called Veronica in there. Veronica is available on FM and DAB across the Netherlands besides also bizarrely been available on shortwave too.

The 6.9 to 7 MHz range is home to a lot of pirates in North America. But some European stations have been using it for a while. 10 Sept 2025 someone is playing recordings of Atlantic 252 on 6940 kHz. Very strong on the west of Ireland SDR's.

I tuned in on my own receiver after reading this, but instead of the above 6940 had switched to relaying the online station https://laser558.live However it switched off at about 7PM
