Airsoft Rifle, Alternative use

    Hi guys,

I have zero experience of airsoft equipment. However what I do have is a crow that has taken a liking to my satellite dish, perching right on the LNB arm and blocking it for ages:)

Would an airsoft rifle have the range to scare a bird off? The dish is on the chimney stack of a standard 3 bed semi detached house. Is it a stupid idea? People do suggest putting bird spikes up there, but I've seen birds perching on bird spikes like they are the most comfortable of sofas.

Anyway, sorry for the off topic post, and thanks for any ideas/suggestions/abuse

it's a dumb idea. Airsoft guns are not air guns; they lack the power to kill a small animal. But; they DO have sufficient power to injury a small animal. Which would land you squarely into animal cruelty charge territory. If that doesn't make you stop and think; you also risk having the gardai called for "brandishing a gun in public" given that you mentioned semi-detached housing.

Just make a loud noise. Cheaper too.

Not looking to hit the bird, just nearby. Clapping does nothing:)

Fair point on the brandishing a gun in public though.

Tie a few cable ties around it with the long ends sticking up, don't trim them. The crowd will find a more comfortable spot

That crow's doing that because it knows you find it annoying. And it knows you're no threat to him just making loud noises. Crows are smarter than many humans.

The trick is to make it feel uncomfortable. Put some oily grease or something unpleasant on the arm - it'll **** hate that.
