Rather bemused to see overhead signs on the m50 trying to encourage drivers to browse to a 'traffic' site.. for a number of reasons.. first being the request to browse to a website, if anything is going to a cause a crash it's drivers trying to open a browser on their phone and typing in a url.. it's not even an app.

Secondly, why on earth was such a pointless site needed? Every single mapping app has live traffic integration and will be far more reliable than whatever this is.

Looks like someone got a handy gig here and probably at great cost to deliver what is not much more than a Google maps plugin and a right nav with links to other sites..

Bemuses me greatly that they choose to advertise it in probably the least safe manner possible. But sure that's grand in this case because they need to justify their own expenditure.

As with many things in life, don't assume everybody does what you do. Many people don't use Google maps or have car satnavs that don't show traffic alerts.

but even if you don’t, it rarely tells you anything useful, same bottlenecks every day that anyone driving that route will know. I’ve been in long well established traffic jams that they don’t report on.

Local radio may be useful sometimes for big problems but national is just an excuse for a jingle and an ad at this stage

I have only been to galway a handful of times, and I've no idea where they are, but I am never going to the lough atalia road or bothar na treabh and as for the quincentennial bridge, forget about it!

I use it for checking the air temperature. The weather station is only 2km from my house and is closer than any station on Met Eireann's site.

So the radio stations can sound 'local' to different locations. The plebs soak that stuff up.

Nope, huge differences in the bottlenecks, depending on whether it's school holidays or not.

I don't have kids, so literally the way I know that holidays have started is when the traffic report talks about no delays on the Western Distributor Road today!
