2005 corolla juddering

2005 corrolla 1.4VVTI, 330k km on the clock, always well serviced. Clutch replaced 100k km 5years or thereabouts when doing a gearbox bearing. Air filter is spotless, not checked the spark plugs yet.

When pulling away from roundabouts the last 3 days I find my Corolla giving a judder, like either the clutch is slipping or struggling for fuel. Only happens in this situation. Im driving on roundabouts around town bypass, thus I usually glide in in 5th year, and off out again and then gradually accelerate away without changing gear. Revs would drop back to 12-1500revs, not far from engine idle.

roundabouts, a mix of flat and mild uphill.

I can accelerate as hard as i like at high revs and no slipping or juddering.

    Any ideas

the Haynes manual I have says there is no petrol filter.

Tried the handbrake test on the clutch this evening on flat ground and it would stall the car. I did it in 1st gear. would easily stall the car if doing it in 2nd gear or 3rd gear

Filter in tank . Pop the back seat and remove the tank sender unit, check filter and have a good look around tank for any dirt, is the fuel quality good,

AAlso try disconnecting battery for 10 min just to reset ecu

How does the car respond if you drop to 3rd or 4th at the roundabouts and floor it. Does it shudder.

Is the car well serviced ' air after plugs Rotary arm Distributer cap etc .

Could a brake callipers be sticking

Look for any black lines on the white porcelain of the spark plugs and if there's any present change the spark plugs and the leads.

You are in the wrong gear at the roundabout, are yiu really trying to exit a roundabout in 5th gear?

I think the car is just bogging down, as any would if trying to accelerate from too low in the rev range in top gear

    Not Your Ornery Onager

Very bad practice, called 'lugging the engine'. Bearings suffer.

Has to be that if you're flying into a roundabout in 5th
