Issue with ITV1

I was flicking through the channels earlier and when viewing ITV1 for maybe 10 or 15 seconds the screen goes black with this message appearing…."To view this service please connect your device to the internet".

The programme was the France - Germany women's football match which had just gone to penalties. I tried viewing it about 5 or 6 times during the penalty shootout but just got the above message. After the game was over I had no issues in viewing the channel. Its also happened a couple of other times in the last week but changing channels seemed to have fixed it at the time. Any ideas what that is all about?

Im in Donegal and signal is received from the Strabane transmitter.

If you put that message "To view this service please connect your device to the internet". into a Google search, you will get results showing that it is a recent thing on Freeview affecting many transmitters. Possibly the start of a migration to IPTV by some of the broadcasters, but figure out what you can yourself.

You will get best results if you use Google Advanced Search, Exact word or Phrase.

So are you using a freeview receiver? Sounds like it was because the game had gone into extra time and they were switching coverage of it over to ITVX?

I had a quick root around and it does seem like an issue with some older receivers and tellies but mine is only 3 years so I suspect from reading a few of the google results it looks like it has to do with IPTV as you said.
