Actually a very good price for something that comes with a three year warranty. What part of the country are you in? Might pop into mine tonight

Could be good value . Never heard of the brand - there seems to be no reviews

Ambiano is Aldi's own brand of products AFAIK but are generally decent quality going from any I bought in the past.

Waste of money, doesn't have lidar detection

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,289 ✭✭✭mel123

Does that mean it doesnt map the house so it just goes on its merry way?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,274 ✭✭✭Justin10

    Exactly, just bouncing off everything.

Any robot vacuum without a little bump on the top, is not worth the money.

It does gyroscopic mapping according to the text on the box. That's nowhere near the accuracy of a lidar, but it's also not one of those totally dumb ones that move without any plan.

I just got a used one off adverts yesterday, delighted with it , picking up dirt I couldn’t even see and docking itself when finished .

Does anyone know what they are like for mopping - at this price point I'm not expecting much

I tried the top rated 'cheapy' from Amazon about a year ago. Similar money to this and looks more or less the same too.

It was not a satisfactory experience to say the least. Noisy, bouncing into things all the time, taking he most nonsensical routes, goes over the same corner 5 times and never gets into the rest of the room, couldnt find its charger and unless you have a very uniform hard floor its useless in any case. Was a novelty for three days then bye bye.

These things are 'not there' yet. Not at that price point anyway.

I have the Lidl (Silvercrest brand) version of this and after about 3 months it wouldnt dispense water at all when mopping. Followed the troubleshooting guide to no avail. Took it back to Lidl who said as 3 months had passed to phone a number instead. They sent out a new unit and I got to keep the old one. However after about a month of using the new unit that also stopped mopping.

Maybe the Aldi one works better but Id expect it is more or less the same design as the Lidl one with just a water chamber and gravity feeding the water on to a piece of fabric which contacts the floor. So either way I wouldnt expect the mop function to be great. As a hoover though it should work well.

Had this typed out yesterday and never hit post 🤣

I have a similar one bought from Amazon. They're grand for keeping on top of things, (the same with the hoover aspect of them) but any heavy staining/build up of you're better off doing by hand.

Essentially the mop is basically a piece of cloth over a piece of plastic that water drips out of and gets dragged along the floor, so don't expect miracles. I throw half a bottle top of Flash floor cleaning liquid into the reservoir to help,

I bought what was essentially the same unit from Lidl (coincidentally for the exact same price) and it was absolutely rubbish. Honest opinion, it's best avoided.

If you are really in the market for one, buy a branded one with an app not one of these.

This one has an app too. Someone posted a video review of it, not too comprehensive though
