Time to build a decent semi reclined seat.

I've been playing more and more flight sim lately and after decades of dipping in and out with never managing any consistent playing time. Often sessions of less than an hour a couple of times a month. Mainly because of comfort and the lack of it on my part.

I've decided that it's time to play. To ensure I can get the best out of my time? Comfort matters, I have a neuropathic condition that worsens considerably when upright and position can really impact on me. Even just an hour sitting upright, can en up leaving me reliant on opioids to cope with resultant pain.

Now! If I'm lain up on my couch or my bed gaming? That's not really an issue. I can find a comfortable position, get my joypad and play.

That's not really possible when I want to play a flight sim though, which has meant I just haven't been able to play.

I have decided to give one of the CNC plywood cockpit seat builds a try. My hope is that a recumbent seat, with decent padding will allow me at least a few hours at a time gameplay before I need to quit.

I've seen some brilliant plans but this one stands out

It's quite similar to the racing kit RK1 but with more HOTAS mounting options.

My setup at the moment is Quest 2 running via an rtx 4050 with an x56 HOTAS that I've just bought that I need to get some profiles setup for.

After that long-winded intro. Onto my actual question! Has anyone built anything similar? Or used either of these setups? How did ye find them in use? Or indeed any other recommendations?

The wood cockpit guy I posted about above is EU based and plans on shipping precut flatpack kits from October.
So that has put my build plans on the back burner.

In the meantime, I have been playing around with modifying a zero gravity garden lounger into doing a job for a few months.
I added 2 small wood panels to the arm rests as mounts for my HOTAS.
It's not factory fresh but, it works and it is surprisingly comfortable.
