How to fill water

This may be a silly question but we have just got a campervan that has a large water tank. We're heading off for a few weeks around Ireland. Do I need to bring a hose and any special fittings or do campsites usually have hoses to use? I know a lot of pitches have taps but looking at YouTube videos there doesn't seem to be any hoses

Sorry if this is an obviously stupid question!

Each individual pitch has a tap but typically no hose. Sometimes there will be a water supply tap on the internal roads somewhere with a tap. Get like 2m-3m of old hose and a screw on adaptor and you'll be flying.

Or ask anyone in a bit van if you can borrow theirs!

For people to answer you, we'd need more information about how the tank in the motorhome is filled.

Is there a special cap on the outside for filling water or what?.

If you're not sure and a beginner,if it were me, I'd bring a watering can and fill from the site tap and fill your tank with it.

    ^^^^

If there's a hose on the site tap,you can also use that, but some sites have hoses on the taps and some do not.

There's a 50 liter tank in the back that is accessed via the back door. It has a lid to remove to put a hose in

having a hose & a couple of attachments is very useful to keep in the van, but I would fill that tank before I go and save the bother. Depending on usage of course, but that will keep you going for quite a while. If you do need to top-up when you are there, the hose will come into play, but that does mean driving from your pitch to the tap. A watering can or some such would be good. Filling directly into the top of the tank might be a bit awkward. Is there an access from the outside of the van? Looks like a petrol / fuel cap (often has a key slot).

    Whatever happens, stay hydrated! :)

As others have said, a length of hose (I typically carry a 4 to 5 m length) and a selection of hoselok connections and adaptors to screw onto the taps. I also have a 10L drum that I have used to top up the tank rather than move the 'van out to the tap. I made up a filler with pieces of plastic pipe fittings and a funnel.

I always start out with a full tank of water.
