diy wheel building - where to buy parts (affordably, local) ?

    one of my lads just finished his Leaving, no interest in 3rd level, loves cycling and mechanic-ing & a future ambition of his eventually would be to have his own shop…being a bit of an entrepreneur generally has asked for some help on a idea he's got which is to build custom wheels. I started digging about a bit for him on the question of parts (rims, hubs, nipples, spokes etc..) I get the impression there aren't too many places close to home to buy quality bits, seems UK and US centered

    anyone got some hints on buying bits & doing wheelbuilds generally I'd love to hear more…
