I was stopped by the Garda for driving with out of date tax - no issue their, tax renewed and new disc on front window. FPN paid. Does this automatically incur 2/3 penalty points and would these be applied to a license/driver number straight away or as and when the Garda files the paperwork?

They won't be applied at all. Motor tax offences don't incur penalty points. Once you've paid your fine that should be the end of the matter.

Excellent. Thank you. RSA/citizens information didn't specifically mention this.
