The suspect, from South Armagh, has no known connections with republican paramilitaries or any other type of violent extremist group.

The man, a welder by trade, is being linked to three “viable devices” in the Republic — one in Castleblaney, Co Monaghan, one in North Dublin and the most recent one in Foynes.

The one in north Dublin is from a year or two ago while the Castleblaney one is recent.

Prior to any links being reported to other attempts, I was leaning towards it maybe being an effort at a Rusal & Russia.

On seeing the reporting of the wider attempts? The 1st thing that springs to mind is the reported efforts by Russia to disrupt water supplies in Sweden & Finland.

Possibly but the materials were sourced from outside Ireland and would be part of a wider disruption campaign. It's all speculation at this point.

Bizarre considering Water Supply Facilities were targeted. The Aughnish plant being targeted one would think it was an attack on Russian interests spurred on by the war with Ukraine. However, targeting the Water Supply Facilities are not fitting the Anti-Russian angle.
