Conundrum: Public V Private Job Decision

Looking for some feedback on my decision!

48 year old in IT with Private multinational. 73k per year, 5-6k bonus, family health insurance.

Currently debating taking a HEO job as Garda civilian, would start on 58k and yearly increments then.

Not overly happy in current role, I'm there 25 years and would also maybe like to try something different, but could also stick it out if needed.

Thinking public role could see me out until retirement in my local area and perhaps could try for promotion which would be my intention.

Anyone in a similiar predicament before on know anyone that might have been? Thanks in advance!

If you can afford to drop the money then definitely do it. I did similar a few years ago and don’t regret it for a second, I have more time with the family, less stress and more annual leave. Best of luck whatever you decide.
