    Hi folks,

I recently moved into a rural property with a large garden and I need a multi tool for various tasks as my corded electric suburban hedge trimmer and strimmer aren't really cutting it here! Mainly the hedge trimmer and strimmer functions, but the chainsaw pruning attachment would come in handy to as I have some trees that need some work.

I basically can't afford the high end pro options like Husq or Stihl, and I don't want to waste my time buying the cheapest options like this Hyundai for €250 https://www.smythshomevalue.ie/products/hyundai-52cc-petrol-multi-purpose-tool It has loads of terrible reviews and

So I was looking for something in between mid-range and there don't seem to be many options other this Efco one for €529 which is within my budget https://robertkee.ie/product/efco-dsh2500d-pu-multi-tool Efco seem like a reputable brand, but my worry is that this tool is a made in China piece of crap just to get into the multi-tool market.

Does anybody have any experience with this tool or have any other thoughts or suggestions?

    Thanks!

Have a generic equivalent of the Hyundai and its a good tool but I suspect as its a cheap chinese made tool you can get a good one or a bad one. With mine it never really worked correctly until I spent about a tenner on it and bought a new carburetor.

Neighbor has a Husqvarna 128L which again was OK but we replaced the carburetor recently, probably problem was E10 fuel left in it over winter.

To me the Efco looks like a poshed up version of the Hyundai.

I'd go with the Hyundai. Only problem I have with it is that I don't like the loop handle and its overall balance. I use it with a very heavy bramble smashing blade and it does a great job.

I also have a very old (1999) Husqvarna 240R which has had loads of work done on it over the years, if I listed the work I've done you'd think it was the worst brush cutter in the world but its still going.

Edit> I know its not a multi tool but I'd consider this just for strimming provided you don't intend to give it a really hard life. Its from the same stable as the Hyundai.

One other point on the cheap chinese ones, you have to do a bit of research but you can find all the major spare parts cheap on Amazon and even cheaper on Temu.

Wake me up when it's all over.

I've got the hyundai I only tend to use with the chainsaw and occasionally hedge trimmer. I did just buy a broom for it to clear the mission the drive which managed to make fit a head I don't use.

had to replace the fuel lines as they disintegrated but my husqvarna hedge trimmer did the same.

Efco and Oleo Mac are the same brand as far as I know, Italian made, I have an Oleo Mac strimmer for 25 years and it's still running fine

Thanks, yeah I'm going to give the Hyundai a chance. Most of the poor reviews seem to be carb related, which I can fix myself if needs be. I just can't risk the Efco for over twice the price, there are no reviews of it online.

I already picked up the Hyundai this afternoon! I was in two minds in fairness, as Efco indeed are a reputable brand but the multitool was too much of an unknown for me to gamble on twice the price of the Hyundai. The Efco specific tools have great reviews but they each cost around the same or more as the non-reviewed Efco multitool which concerned me, because that doesn't really make sense.

Anyway, I had a quick trial of the Hyundai and it actually feels surprisingly robust for the price but time will tell. Started up no problems and running smoothly off the bat so all good so far.
