Jap Imports

Looking at changing my car and a garage in Lusk keeps popping up with possible cards on the car searches but they're all imported… Is there any reason why I should avoid a jap import?

Would the infotainment systems work, do they have immobilisers etc, would the resell value be the same as other cars etc?

AMCC is the garage I assume..

The ‘German’ Jap imports are practically the same, the radio frequencies are different but I’m nearly certain that garage changes the frequency to Ireland

Some ‘Japanese’ Jap imports have Japanese on the dashboard screens and sometimes don’t have alarms/immobilisers fitted, sometimes use different parts. Not ideal cars to try resell

Yes, I dropped one of my sons friends up there a few weeks ago, as he had bought an A4.

Radio worked away, no bother. Everything was in English.

An immaculate car to be fair, given it's 9 years old, but only 50k/miles on the clock.

Only thing that puts me off is the big square ugly number plate holder at the back.. You usual brain-dead scrotes will know instantly that it's an import.

Its only two screws holding it on. Can be easily removed.. they don’t bother touching the German cars anyway, its only the Aquas and Vitz etc that get targeted

I'd be very hesitant about the resell value; that alone would put me off

Like I said, being a Jap import has no effect on resale value. Unless you buy an odball JDM car which was never sold here

You would be missing a trick then. Usually meticulously maintained, rust free and well equipped. Unlike a lot of Irish cars of a similar age.
