Consumer unit or RCD socket?

I am wondering about the safety difference, if any, between the following. I am adding a power hookup to my campervan. This will power my internal sockets when connected to a camp site etc. I was initially going to install a consumer unit but due to space I am now thinking about installing a 2 gang double pole RCD switched socket. So, the outside of the van has a flap to plug in a standard AC power cable from the mains. The inside of the flap will connect directly to the rcd socket.

From there, I will have a 13a plug on some 2mm flex, back to feed in to a consumer unit With 2 x Double Pole MCBs + RCD. This will then feed my internal sockets in the van. When not on the campsite, I can take the cable and plug it into my inverter, to enable the battery to power the consumer unit and sockets.

As I said, my initial plan was to have 2 consumer units. Once on the inside of the van, to connect the campsite power to , and the second as described above. Does anyone know which way is the better way? Will the RCD socket on the incoming feed be enough or should I really go with 2 consumer units.

    Hope I am making sense.
