Important: Local Authority Job Applicants Unlawfully Disqualified from 2017-2024

    Hi all,
Many applicants for local authority roles—including engineers (all grades), administration, and others—were wrongly ruled ineligible between April 2017 and March 2024.

Qualification requirements were based on multiple Ministerial Orders, many of which have now been confirmed as invalid because they lacked the legally required consultation under Section 160(1)(b) of the Local Government Act 2001. I’ve attached an example of one such Order for Senior Executive Engineer. Similar Orders exist for most local authority roles.

The Department deliberately tried to cover this up and only amended the law in March 2024—long after many candidates, including myself, were unfairly excluded.

⚠️ If you were disqualified from any local authority role before 7 March 2024—whether engineering, administration, or any other position—you were very likely excluded based on an invalid legal instrument and have a right to redress.

📩 Please direct any concerns or requests for redress to HR@housing.gov.ie . If you’re affected, feel free to DM me—I’ve been stonewalled by the establishment and am seeking support to challenge these wrongs

The more of us who speak out, the greater our chances of exposing this cover-up,  holding those responsible to account, and securing redress.

    Thanks for reading.

    Hi,

The declared qualifications for many roles in local government are availble on Dept Housing website (Boards wont allow to include link). This is where each council and PAS get the qualifications/experience requirements that they include on the candidate booklet for each role. Please review to assertain if the relevant Ministerial Order is available for the particular role you appiled for. Please get back to me if you need further information.
