    Hi ,

    Looking for some help.

Could the wooden front door( pic 1) be restored by removing the glass & replacing with double / triple glazed glass & moved to where the porch door is now ( indicated in blue pic 2) ..measurement seems ok for size. Love to retain it but would need to get it to high energy rating.

It would need a new frame and locking system also , is it possible to retro for that ?

It's possible. But all the glazing rebates would need to be modified, but stile rebates for 5 point locking or similar. Performance could be improved, but would fall short of a new door imo.

Easier to just replsce with a new door to match that look.

Agreeing with Mellor. I looks like it might be a 1950's (or earlier) ripple-glass door with nothing architecturally special about it, although it might fit in with the overall theme of the surrounding houses, and I could see why you'd possibly want to retain it to match. You could get quotes, it might be thermally no worse than the alu frame door already in the porch.

I've been looking at accoya door made to replicate this door and started to wonder if refurbishing the current rwould that get a similar energy rating as well as doing a bit for the environment by not throwing it out...
