I admit, Sony has been a bit of a niche choice for about 5 to 6 years at this stage but now almost 3 years with my Sony Xperia 5 iv it's time to move on.

Sadly Sony don't make the 5 range anymore, their flagships are the bigger 1 series, recently launched the mark vii for a hefty €1500. That's too rich for me. Sony haven't been great with software update promises, you're pretty much stuck with what you got after 2 years (aside from security updates)

Personally €999 is the cut off, I've have a Samsung tablet and I'm not a fan of the organisation of the user interface, looking for apps can be a chore, so I don't think I'll be considering them.

I'm leaning towards a Pixel 9 pro which is €799 at the moment on the Google store. Might even get €100 off on trading in the Xperia. Good price? Bad phone? Sony UI was practically identical to stock android so I feel as if the Pixels would be the easiest transition to make without dipping into custom loaders and the like.

Will miss the headphone jack, SD card expansion and physical camera button which have been a feature since the Sony Ericsson days.

    This too shall pass.

Get the 9 pro. You won't regret it, great phone, great feature set
