Is the Luas Red Line safe on a Saturday night?

Myself and the kids will be getting the Luas Red Line from the city center to Fortunestown on a Saturday night, around 11pm, in a few weeks.

Is it safe at that hour, or is there all sorts of shenanigans going on in the carriages like one hears about, fights, open drug use etc ?

I know it's a "how long is a piece of string" question but what's the general vibe of that service at that hour?

Stories about the red line are exaggerated.

Yes, there can be problems, but generally at weekends there will be security on the trams.

I get it regularly on a Friday or Saturday night and have never had any issues.

Keep yourself to yourself and you'll be fine.

The Luas Red Line is less safe at 10.15 am on a Tuesday than it is on late services on a Saturday night.

The busier it is, the better, and there will probably be at least one security staff on each tram. But don't be surprised to see shenanigans of one sort or other.

    This!

I use it nearer town, and it's 10 times worse during the day - I think all the "unwell" etc run out of steam by teatime!

I have no problem getting it home out of town at night having arrived on the DART from elsewhere, but if I can get a bus instead during the day I will.

And if it's post concert or sort of event in town, you'll be absolutely grand.

    Thanks for the replies.

If it was just me I'd not be asking the question, but since I have a few kids with me I was not sure if brining them on the red line at that time of night was advisable.

We'll it seems it is and I will.
