On way to Heathrow today, and near Heathrow apparently, turned around and landed back in Dublin due to technical difficulties. Firetrucks etc on runway.

The question I have is, why wouldn't it have just landed in Heathrow, surely BA better equipped to carry our any repairs there? Instead of bring bring passengers back to their departure spot?

It was only off the coast of Wicklow and circled while trouble shooting and then straight back in.

    No where near UK.

ah, wife was on it, so I guess she was thinking flight time meant they were well on their way and closer to Heathrow.

according to flight radar it didn’t get anywhere near London.
only got as far as Wicklow

I was on the flight. There was an odd noise immediately after take off, so I assume they went straight out to circle over Wicklow whist trouble shooting, and then decided that they needed to land. There is no point in taking any risk at all, just to push on to Heathrow for ease of repair, or to complete the journey. Best just to play it safe.

Hydraulic failure of the green system which impacts brakes and nose wheel steering hence the stopping on the runway.

Correct decision to return and perfectly executed by the crew.
