    Hi everyone,

    Just a quick question

I've been told now that I'm sober (sober now nearly 3 months!😀), I'm not to date people until I'm at least 1 year sober. Just wondering, is that correct?🤔

Personally it comes down in its base form to the "People, places, things" idea of staying sober. Newly sober is one of the hardest things anyone can do so not to be in a position that can cause relapse. Dating, while great, can be seen as something that can have destructive elements for a person new to sobriety.. does the partner like to drink, go out, could a bad experience lead to relapse.. some things to consider but I wish you the very best on your journey...it will change your life only for the better and gets easier over time

No experience of this situation but just to say we'll done on the three months and best of luck in the future.I would definitely think you could be putting your recovery at risk by dating at this stage ,know that sounds a bit gloomy but most social situations could prove challenging so best for the moment to focus on yourself and try and fill your time with maybe healthier options if possible .Speaking as someone who gave up drink my only regret is I didn't do it sooner ,life can be so much better without it .
