Frame circa 1992 - not entirely sure. Badged as Reynolds 653 but I'm not convinced.

Size small - would suit someone 5'4" - 5'9" approximately in current configuration, of course it could be lengthened by changing out the quill stem.

Groupset is a particularly clean Shimano RX100 7spd system with downtube shifters. Wheels are Mavic.

Overall condition B+ and very rideable. I'm swimming in bikes however, and I know I won't give it the attention it deserves.

I'm looking for 300 beans and based in west Dublin.

That looks class. Plenty of sellers would advertise that as "mint". For a white bike to look that well after 30+years it had to have been well looked after.

Over recent years here whenever a nice older frame, let alone a complete bike, came up for sale in large sizes there used to be a volley of shouts along the lines of "if only that was smaller I'd be all over it", or "you tall folk are blessed when it comes to quality rothars" etc.

Now I drop in a bike that aims squarely at the more sensibly proportioned cyclist and…..🧐

Seems similar? A comment suggests that the pro team used 753 tubing but the commercially available bike used 653.

Are you sure its a small as Raleigh small was 19", any chance you could measure the length of the seat tube in inch?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,939 ✭✭✭MojoMaker

    Spot on….seat tube is 19" 👍️

Measurement is from where it intersects with the top tube, down to the weld at the BB.

This is sold? Someone asked me yesterday if I knew of any frames (rather than bikes) for sale from the 90s, said he's probably looking for a 54 which going by the head tube, this has a chance at?

I just spotted the discussion about the seat tube being 19".

I have a couple of decent repainted frames coming up for sale very soon; at least one is a 54. I was going to build them up and sell off very cheaply.

    Still available.

Somebody for a very rideable neo-classic?

Clean, solid, easy on the eye. Not one for the collectors/purists perhaps (you wouldn't be shopping for prime metal in this price range anyway) but for the casual entrant to modern vintage cycling I think a very nice fit.

If I could find somewhere to hide it, I'd be all over it!

Sure, in this colour scheme the bike is almost invisible.

Another plan, depending on how clued in the residents of your house are, is to spontaneously mention one weekend that you're fed up with your [insert colour here] bike and you're going to paint it white, and everyone should head out for the afternoon while you selflessly tackle the task.

Anyone like to make a cheeky offer? It has to go for space reasons as we are downsizing, and I really don't want to go anywhere near Donedeal or its ilk 😩

How does 250 sound, pending a quick test ride to check the size 🙂

Welcome to come over anytime @spoonbadger - I'll PM you.
