    Yes you need to file these because if not the Revenue will issue estimates on the outstanding returns. They calculate this information based on the information you provided when setting up the VAT registration. It should reflect the payments so it you should state "liability" which in your case will be either €0 or an estimated figure, then it will have "collected" which will be the amount you have paid to the Revenue, and then there is "Balance" which is the liability minus the collected figure.

    Try and file this information as soon as you can and also file a VAT RTD and make sure that the information ties back to the VAT returns you have submitted.
