need to replace the ZV below, just wondering what's the easiest way to do it.

Its all very rigid and the bypass does not help

I will freeze the return below the vertical Tee and shut valve V and the by pass to so as I don't have to drain it.

One idea is to open the bottom of the vertical Tee and the 1/2 on the top bypass tee…..

PS: Is the valve V, on the flow, in the wrong place?

    Thanks as always

Is the valve itself gone or just the head? You know you can replace the head/actuator alone?

Thanks, the valve is leaking, it was also stuck closed but I succeeded in getting it to work.

I couldn't get off the head yesterday to see where the leak is.

Had a look at a new one and its a " male spade" on the valve sticking up into a female slot in the head so WD can't get to it.

the new one in the shop took quite a bit of force to separate,

If I got the head off I might try replace whoever O ring has failed, but as this would require freezing the system, may just replace the unit when that far

You might get lucky if you loosen the nuts on the horizontal return either side of the valve, plus the bottom of the balance.

Won't be too difficult to reapply ptfe then afterwards.

As for the position of the isolating valve... it's in the same place as mine for a similar setup!

I think those heads need to be in the manually open position before pressing the locking mechanism to remove.

Correct, we had all that done , it would lift over the "holding down" brass piece but no joy on the head /valve "spud" connection

my take on the gate valve is that it supposed to restrict the flow-rate of water through the heating coil so as the delta T for the condensing boiler is achieved.

Given that the gate valve is on the flow, as opposed to the return.. Is it the same effect?😀
