Would anyone here have a phonebook from 1980's/1990's? I am trying to find a person who bought a house in Dublin suburb in 1978 and I believe is still there. PM please. Too lazy to arrange visit to Pearse Library to check their archives of same.

Sorry I don't have a copy but I know that the GSI have old phone books. https://familyhistory.ie/about-us/

Thoms from many 70s years plus 1980 and 1986 are on askaboutireland, but an absolute arse to search.

Thanks Jellybaby, and for mention of GSI … I see they have a nice website now with links to videos of talks. I note that the archive is still located at the Loughlinstown place, still looking for a permanent home. I miss the flexibility of the Pearse Research room of old. Now an appointment has to be made to visit at certain times and no longer on Saturdays … and the cafe is gone!

Just read that the newly reopened Dublin Museum on St Stepen's Green has a copy of old phone book, not sure of year.

There was a fuss made about those babies and would you believe that c 60 were born in Dublin on that one day. That surprised me. The high figure would be result of out of city mothers coming up to main maternity hospitals to deliver. Or perhaps with Christmas/New Year, some births went overdue? There was a presentation made to them in July of that year by the Lord Mayor, quite an even with about 55 babies and parents turning up to the Oak room in the Mansion House. They were given a replica ring of one that was found in the Wood Quay excavations. Liga sponsored the event and it is a pity that the database was not kept and followed up in later years. Apologies this is getting off topic!

Still off topic, but good timing as Carmencita Hederman who was the Lord Mayor in 1988 passed away this week.
