coming from Gorey, best place to park to hop on the dart to the Aviva, relatively close?

On street, private parking, dart station parking (like booterstown)

    all recommendations appreciated

If coming from Gorey why not hop on in Greystones or Bray? Failing that Salthill / Monkstown has Dart parking.

It would be a mistake to hop on the DART relatively close, as for large events, they tend to get rammed, certainly by about Dún Laoghaire. Unless, that is, you're planning to come very early ahead of the start time.

If I were coming from the N11 direction, I would stop at Glenageary station, where there is plenty of on-street parking on Station Road, Marlborough Road and St. Catherine's Road, all adjoining the station.

It is only about a 10 to 15 minute drive from the Dún Laoghaire exit on the M11/M50, it is quiet and well lit and I have parked there by day and night over many years without an issue.

It is pay and display there Mon-Sat until 7.00pm, but the rate is only €1 per hour, or €3 for the whole day, so 80% cheaper than what you could pay nearer the Aviva.

    thanks for that information

Can you tell me are there machines on the roads you mentioned to pay or is it via an app only? Probably only arriving at 5 pm on and be gone around 11 pm

There are one or two machines, but you can't always rely on them working, especially over the weekend, but I'd recommend getting the payzone app, its very handy to use you'll surely use it again sometime to pay a road toll or something and you don't have to put a load of money onto it.
