Displayport Issue on Dell laptop

    Hi All.

I'm trying to connect 2 external screens to my Dell Inspiron 5300.

Screen 1 is connected to HDMI, no issues there and when i change it over to the new screen which has both HDMI and Displayport it also works fine.

I got a startec Hub which has 2 Displayport sockets and i have the new monitor hooked up via the hub(hub works fine, everything else working) But when i plug in the monitor, it pings to say new device connected and the 3rd screen shows up on the display settings but the new screen is greyed out and i cant select any options for it, it stays on disconnect this display. Now i know the screen works fine as i had it plugged into another computer with displayport and it was fine. It just wont send a signal to the 3rd screen through the hub even tho its saying it working.

Would a Displayport to HDMI adapter work and use the HDMI port on the monitor or is this an issue any one has faced before?

    Thanks!

It's possible your onboard GPU only supports two outputs total. What's the exact CPU model you have?

    Intel 12th gen i5 1240P.

Even when i plug out the usual HDMI one and just go the display port route via the hub for one screen, its showing up as an extra screen but still greyed out.

Just got it going finally. I changed the display port version from 1.2 to 1.1 on the monitor settings and it allowed me then to move it off of turn off this display to extend display.

I'm not sure what was happening there then. That iGPU is capable of 4 different outputs. Aside from that there can be limits on the total bandwidth outgoing, which is impacted by resolution etc. DP 1.2 can use much more bandwidth than 1.1, so I'd venture a guess dropping it freed enough outgoing bandwidth to bring it below the limit.
