Connect phone to TV using USB/HDMI cable

Hi all. Maybe naive, but a basic question:

I bought one of these USB-C to HDMI cables recently, with a view to hooking my phone (a Samsung Galaxy A15) to a relatively new TV (about four years old) I have in a sort of home bar/man cave in my garage. - https://www.amazon.co.uk/SWECENT-Thunderbolt-Compatible-MacBook-Samsung/dp/B0BTVFCV22/ref%3Dcm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8&th=1

Thought it would be a simple "plug & play" but the TV just says "no signal" when I try. It's the same on every TV in the house itself.

Before anybody suggests casting or anything else, please note I don't have internet in the garage. Have tried a few range extender set-ups but it's just too far from the house to work properly. Not interested in a separate installation there either as I'd be streaming so little, it just wouldn't be worth it.

Am just wondering if there's some phone setting or similar than I'm missing in order to be able to do this with the cable, or is it just not possible in the first place?

    TIA.

The Samsung Galaxy A15 does not support Samsung DeX. Samsung DeX is typically found on higher-end Galaxy phones and tablets, such as the S, Note, and Z Fold series, as well as certain Tab S models. The Galaxy A series, including the A15, generally lacks this feature. Here's why you might not find DeX on the A15:

    • Targeted Feature:Samsung DeX is a premium feature designed for users who want a desktop-like experience on their mobile devices. It's primarily offered on flagship and high-end models.
    • Hardware Requirements:Samsung DeX often requires specific hardware capabilities, such as dedicated display ports and powerful processors, which are not always present in the A series.
    • Software Integration:Samsung DeX necessitates specific software integration and optimization, which is typically reserved for the higher-end models that receive more development and support.

Alternatives for screen sharing and productivity:

    • Smart View:Many Samsung devices, including the A15, offer Smart View, which allows you to mirror your phone's screen to a TV or monitor.
    • Other screen-sharing apps:There are numerous third-party screen-sharing apps available on the Google Play Store that can provide similar functionality.
    • Samsung Link to Windows:If you need to connect your phone to your PC for file transfers or other tasks, Samsung offers Link to Windows as an alternative.

Had to look up what Samsung DeX is, but seems what I was attempting to do just isn't possible with my phone then anyway. Thanks.
