I wish to appeal the following warning and ban:

    IMG_3824.jpeg

I have tried to resolve this with the moderator but to no avail.

The moderator has assumed this is a dig at moderation. I went to great lengths to explain that it is not a dig at any moderator or the collective moderation team - it is a comment aimed solely at the cohort of posters who collectively object to any criticism of a multitude of “stars” who all coincidentally are managed by the same agent.

I explained this to the moderator, I offered my word as to the voracity of my explanation (something I wouldn’t do lightly), I even went so far as to apologise for the misinterpretation.

If I was going to make a dig at the mods I’d have said “the mods will be happy with that” or words to that effect. It is quite the stretch to think this is aimed at the moderation team.

No-one would logically refer to mods as a “cohort”, it’s clearly aimed at the cohort of posters I referred to earlier. It doesn’t even make grammatical sense when referred to as such as they’re already a predefined group.

For context - and I can’t include a screenshot given my ban - the comment I replied to was one where it was stated that Joe Duffy’s departure from his show would lead to the death of the thread - hence my comment. It is illogical to think that moderators would want the thread to “die” - but it is certainly not illogical to think those posters who clearly want the threads discussing clients of a certain agent closed would - which, again, provides context for my post.

I would ask this be reviewed asap please as my ban is for 1 day.

Good morning folks, just wondering if there’s any update on this? I’m not trying to hound you but as this is a 1 day ban it’s quite time sensitive.

I've asked the admins to have a look if the cmods don't see it soon.

I don't know enough of the history of the JD/Liveline threads. To clarify, is that the thread has, let's say group A who like the show and B who firmly don't and that's the basis of your original comment and not moderation?

Sort of, but it’s more nuanced and complicated than that.

In a nutshell, the Radio Forum has for quite some time (predating my own arrival on boards) been inhabited/visited by a number of posters who appear to be organised and whose aim it seems is to close down any commentary critical of clients of a certain Dublin-based agency, and ultimately the threads. This has played out most obviously in the old and new Ryan Tubridy Threads, and in the Joe Duffy Thread - both of whom share the aforementioned agent. When viewed in this context it is entirely obvious who my comment was aimed at.

But again, even on a rudimentary grammatical level no-one would refer to the moderators as a “cohort”, it is quite clear I’m referring to “a cohort of posters”. I’m sorry to be pedantic on this but this is important to me and I’m being accused incorrectly and unfairly of something I haven’t done. It is nonsensical and illogical that a moderator would want one of the busiest threads on the site to “die”, but it is clearly an aim of the aforementioned group.

If you needed any proof that such a faction exists on this site, you got it in that nasty message that was posted earlier by one of the ringleaders who btw remains active on the site under another username.

OK, I'm working today and will need time to look at it. I won't be delving much into what friction there is re the groups are or are not alleged to have done. I will look at the mod's decision per its own merits. What is your basis for the time sensitive nature of this DRP?

can you look at the comment above? This is what I’m subjected to by this cohort.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,181 ✭✭✭Peter Dragon

My basis for the time sensitive nature is these cases should be resolved before the ban expires. My ban is 1 day, it expires this evening. I shouldn’t really have to wait until it’s expired to have it overturned.

Once again, if you need proof this cohort exists look at the fact that they went to the trouble and time to create 2 separate new accounts to hurl abuse at me on here.

Another re-reg - delightful. I can’t see who thanked it but i can almost guarantee I know who did.

Mods - surely thanking re-reg trolls posting vile stuff at posters in the Dispute Resolution should get a warning?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,181 ✭✭✭Peter Dragon

4 re-regs to attack me anonymously but I’m the weirdo? That is some interesting logic.

I’m not Butters, but he certainly does seem to live rent free in your head.

Posts from accounts attacking another poster in the Dispute Resolution forum have been removed and the accounts have been site banned.

From the forum charter: "You may not post in a thread that is not related to you, even if you think you’re being helpful, without being invited to do so by the CMod or Admin looking after the issue at hand. This applies to all members of the site."

Let the Category Moderator deal with this.

The person behind those accounts is active on the site and everyone in radio knows who he is - why isn’t action being taken against him?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,181 ✭✭✭Peter Dragon

And there is one poster openly thanking the trolls - does this not warrant action?

  • Administrators, Boards.ie Employee, Boards Employee 2, Boards Employee 3 Posts: 1,469 ✭✭✭✭✭Boards.ie: Mike

Please stick to the point of your appeal. If you wish to raise another issue with a moderator or report another poster please feel free to do so using the proper channels.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,181 ✭✭✭Peter Dragon

The troll is back again btw with more posts, despite you stating he was site-banned.

Can you tell me where I should ask a question about sanctions for thanking trolling posts by re-regs as I’m not sure where to do so?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,181 ✭✭✭Peter Dragon

I also suggested locking this thread btw to prevent further actions by mad actors such as the re-reg, perhaps that could be looked at?

Same troll, different name, receiving the same site ban treatment.

We’re up to 5 now. And he’s active today under his “regular” username. Can the thread not be locked?

  • Administrators, Boards.ie Employee, Boards Employee 2, Boards Employee 3 Posts: 1,469 ✭✭✭✭✭Boards.ie: Mike

How are you supposed to respond to the Category Moderator if I lock the thread?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,181 ✭✭✭Peter Dragon

    We can communicate in PM.

I find it somewhat bizarre you’d rather leave me open to the constant attacks from the troll by leaving this open?

I’m not the one hiding behind re-regs and spouting vile and horrific abuse at posters here - surely I’m the one who deserves a degree of protection and not the troll?

  • Administrators, Boards.ie Employee, Boards Employee 2, Boards Employee 3 Posts: 1,469 ✭✭✭✭✭Boards.ie: Mike

I am not going to engage with this any further here. Troll posts have been actioned. If you wish to discuss this further you can PM me. The rules regarding dispute resolution procedures cannot be altered on a whim. Stop commenting here and let this run its course.

OK. Looking at things, I feel your original point about the May 8th post is valid and I accept it was not about the mods. I would not have issued a warning on it, personally. You can ask the mod to reverse the warning based on my decision.

That concludes my 2 cents on it.

Closing this as it's now resolved.
