Recording to Flash Drive

Hello,

I have an LG TV that I have tuned into receive the free satellite channels.

It has the function to record shows but I need a "HDD USB".

Does someone know exactly what that is and where I might get one.

Can anyone advise? Anything specific required for an LG?

I was looking for something cheap enough to see how it works.

Yes that will work fine. It says it's Fat32 formatted so should work out of the pack with no need to format it.

Bear in mind that an hour of HD TV is about 1.7GB so might be looking at 16 hours or so of HD capacity on that.

Yeah, its the smaller GB one. Want to try out the recording and see if its easy enough to use as a function. If its any good Ill get something bigger when the time comes.

Do you know if you can watch a program while recording at the same time on an LG TV?

Or if it will record while the TV is in standby mode?

Not sure, I know on my combo box I can record and watch another if the channel is on the same mux, so for example I could record and/or watch RTE2, Virgin Media 1 and TG4 together but couldn't also watch RTÉ1 as that's on a seperate mux.

I assume it will record on standby once you have scheduled it to record on the EPG it should then be set.

I have a 2021 LG and you can't record and view another channel at the same time, plus it wasn't possible to view a recording while it was still recording, you had to wait until the recording was over before you view it, so locking the tv.

I bought mine in late 2024 so not sure what year version it is.

There is only one way to find out how it works and how good it is and that is to try it out.
