Engine revving

19 Peugeot 3008, electronic auto. 95k on clock, 35k on engine.

I braked hard last week, not an emergency brake but fairly hard. The engine revved up for a few seconds. Didn't sound right to me but maybe it's normal. Me no notting.

Then today I pressed the start button and heard the same rev again.

Is it something to be concerned about?

not a mechanic but important to change the auto box oil and filter, if the car is driving find I’d try that first.

As above, likely to be turbo. It could get to a point the engine doesn’t stop revving and you will need to stall it…Just to be aware.

    Will get it looked at.

As above its most likely the turbo on the way out and engine will be using engine oil as a fuel source to keep running regardless of the key being in the ignition

Be good to inform yourself in the meantime of how to access the air intake quickly to block it off as it can be panic stations if it's a runaway to the point of blowing the engine.
