I was thinking the paintwork on my almost pristine SL could do with freshen up when I noticed some paint bubbling and before I knew it I had both sets of bumpers and most of the trim off revealing a surprising amount of corrosion. 🤷‍♂️ . Satisfied that I’ve identified all the issues it’s gonna be more than a freshen up .
Does anyone have any recommendations on what increasingly looks like some comprehensive rust treatment and full repaint ?

R107’s are VERY susceptible to rust.

Take off the heater blower plastic cover under the bonnet and check the bulkhead. If it’s rusted in there, you’re in for a world of (financial) pain.

Thanks for that . Yes I did that and whipped out the blower motor & all were In good shape although I did sand and prime what appeared to be little spots of surface rust .

Checked out the blower while I was there

Toughly investigate the bulkhead for previous repair. As has been said before R107 rust like a good un!

luckily I managed to keep the drain holes cleared over the years but those lower fender areas sometimes only reveal what lurks beneath when it’s too late ..

Can anyone recommend a good paint shop here or will I need to travel across the water ?

I don’t think there’s any need to go to the UK.

There should be plenty of body shops here capable of doing the work, but do try and get someone who has experience of classic or older cars.

    Hi OP,

I'm not sure where you are based, but i can recommend Lichtenberg Classics in Co Louth.

Although i haven't had any paintwork done by them, i have previously had cars maintained by Ben and his level of service and details is top notch.

His workshop is about 10km from Dundalk.
