Item damaged and asked to get Report CN24 signed.

    I received an expensive item in the post. On later examination of the items, there is a hard to see but serious physical damage to one expensive item that makes it unusable. The company will replace it but they want me to bring all the packaging and contents to the Post Office and get them to sign a CN24 form that they have pre-printed as they are going to claim. Is the local post office obligated to sign this form or will there be any problem here?

    Why would there be an issue?

    It's just to ensure no taxes or duties are due when it gets returned.

    It's an internationally recognised postal form.

    Your local post office is not going to sign the form, they're not responsible for your post. The most they'll be able to do is hand you a form that'll get sent to one of their offices and be reviewed eventually.

    You will need to get onto An Post themselves, or at the very least your local sorting office. But I assume they'll make you contact An Post via their website.

    I think you are correct. There is a link for damaged items below. Anyhow, I will ask at the post office tomorrow. If they refuse, I will inform the European supplier and suggest I open up an inquiry via the link below.
