Hi,I'm currently looking at a house that I'm interested in buying. The house was a new build in 2018,it's adjoining a pre-existing council house built in the 1920's.If I look up the history of the new build online, there's a record of 'Opt-Out Construction' at the time of construction. Are there any drawbacks with regards this opt-out,Is this something I should look into before putting an offer on the house?

Ot means they didn’t opt in to statutory certification though the BCMS so there’s no CCC (Certificate of Compliance on Completion).

But you’ll still need secrets/opinions on compliance with building and planning regs before you buy.

If the owners have these from the construction stage then grand. If the owners are just getting them now from someone doing a visual walk through, then you’ve no idea what lies beneath.
