Window phone holder

For about the hundred time one of them has broken on me (this is why I wanted android auto but then not when it was 4K to go up a year for a 191 corolla)

I have round vents either side and square in middle, but don’t really want to put a phone on a vent

I did investigate a cd vent holder, but they come from the usual sites and already tried a holder from them a stopped sticking too dash

I have looked and people saying if you pay about 80 euro, they are great, at that stage I may as well get a cheap CarPlay box knockoff things

My auris has a satnav from the dark ages, plus I think it's 100 euro a year to get traffic etc

Has anyone ever got one of these that lasts?

The one they had in Lidl recently seems to be holding well in my car, and I've had quite a few cheapy ones fail miserably in the past....

I have always resisted the temptation to fit one. Driving requires full attention, I don't want to be distracted.

Just about every new car now has a big screen built into the dashboard so I don't see how a mobile phone is any more of a distraction. Some EV's have huge multiple screens all around you so a 5-6" mobile is hardly any worse.

If you have a CD player that you don't use, you can get one that clamps into the slot. I have one for years. If you're interested I'll dig out a link.

They're not cheap but tailored to each vehicle brand and model (usually with different positioning options) and clip into the trim so they're secure and stable - I have it mounted just to the left of the centre console below the aircon in my A7.

This is why I don't get why it's illegal to tap on a phone mounted on the dash, but perfectly acceptable to tap away on a giant ipad - even to the point where it's actually impossible to access key functions without it when driving - eg : the Tesla model 3 I took for a spin last year - it didn't even have stalks for the basic controls.

From next year, Euro NCAP are automatically docking one star off any vehicle that does not have some standard functions in a car which can be operated by physical controls. Like indicators or wipers. So AFAIK that Tesla would not stand a chance of getting a 5 star rating if it was tested under those new rules.

Had 12 euro dunnes voucher's so got this one and cost about 2 euro

Thanks for all the ideas etc, definitely keep them in mind when this likely breaks

Hopefully eventually can get a car with android auto and no more of this
